About Me
Hi, I’m Victoria E. Amaral- welcome to my webspace!
My research focuses on tropical insect biodiversity and the human impacts which threaten it, like climate change and urbanization. These threats drive insect population declines and alter the structure of insect communities. I’m deeply interested in the mechanisms behind these community changes and their consequences to species interactions and ecosystem functioning.

Research Interests
Most of our knowledge of Anthropocene impacts are limited to diurnal interactions, yet a majority of life on Earth is nocturnal. My research considers the unique ways that nocturnal species will navigate modern ecosystem changes, with a focus on moths.

Current Work
- Light pollution impacts on moth community structure
- Circadian rhythms and daily activity timing
- Nocturnal pollination in urban environments
- Moth functional traits under climate change
